The countdown feels real now. Fifty days.
That number has been sitting in the back of my mind for months, but suddenly it feels very real.
Our daughter will soon be packing up her room, loading the car, and beginning an exciting new chapter at college.
As parents, we’re incredibly proud.
But if I’m being honest, this season is filled with a little excitement…and a lot of emotions.
A house that suddenly feels different
I walk through our home and catch myself noticing little things.
The bedroom that has always been full of life. The shoes by the door.
The backpack tossed on the chair. The snacks disappearing from the pantry.
Before long, those everyday moments will become memories.
I’m learning that this season isn’t just about preparing for college. It’s about preparing our hearts for change.
More than a dorm checklist
Yes, we’re shopping. There are storage bins stacked in the living room.
Dorm bedding spread across the couch. Amazon boxes arriving almost daily. Lists taped to the refrigerator.
We’ve spent hours researching what she’ll actually need—and what she won’t. Some things are exciting. Some things are overwhelming.
And somehow every purchase reminds me that she’s growing up.
Over the next several weeks I’ll be sharing everything we’ve learned along the way—from dorm essentials that are actually worth buying to organization ideas that make tiny spaces work.

While we’re helping our daughter prepare for her next adventure…
My husband and I are quietly preparing for ours.
We’ve dreamed about full-time RV life for years. Not because we’re trying to run away from life.
Because we want to slow down enough to truly enjoy it.
Coffee beside a quiet lake. Small-town coffee shops. Campfires under the stars. Roads we’ve never driven. Places we’ve always wanted to explore.
The countdown to college is also the beginning of our countdown to the road.
Here’s to new beginnings
Right now we’re counting down the days.
Soon we’ll be loading a car for college move-in.
And before we know it, we’ll be planning our own next adventure.
Life has a funny way of opening one door while another quietly begins to crack open.
